18th Annual International Film and Lecture Series

The 2009 International Film and Lecture Series, “Migration and Related Issues” will begin Jan. 20.
 
It is sponsored by the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures and the Film Studies Program. The schedule is as follows:

January 20- Gegen die Wand / Head-On  (Fatih Akin, Germany, 2004). Presented by Rachel Halverson. In German and Turkish with English subtitles.118 Minutes

January 27- La Haine/ Hate  (Mathieu Kassovitz, France, 1995). Presented by Sabine Davis. In French with English subtitles. 95 min.

February 3- Lilya 4-Ever  (Lukas Moodysson, Sweden/ Denmark, 2002). Presented by Birgitta Ingemanson. In Russian and Swedish with English subtitles. 109 min.

February 10-  榴槤飄飄 / Durian Durian  (Fruit Chan, China, 2000). Presented by Christopher Lupke. In Chinese with English subtitles. 116 min.

February 17- 電車男 Densha otoko/ Train Man  (Murakami Shosuke, Japan, 2005). Presented by Puck Brecher. In Japanese with English subtitles. 101 min.

February 24- Princesas / Princesses  (Fernando León de Araona, Spain, 2005). Presented by Vilma Navarro-Daniels. In Spanish with English subtitles. 109 min.

March 3- La sconosciuta / The Unknown Woman (Giuseppe Tornatore, Italy, 2006). Presented by María Previto. In Italian with English subtitles. 118 min.

March 10- Miel Para Oshún / Honey for Oshún  (Humberto Solás, Cuba, 2001). Presented by Ana María Rodríguez-Vivaldi. In Spanish with English subtitles. 120 min.
 
All showings will take place in CUE 202, and start promptly at 7:00 PM. They are open to the community and free of charge.
