PULLMAN – Facilities Operations asks all employees to help keep buildings warm and safe during predicted cold spells. Here’s how you can help:
– Close all exterior building windows and ensure exterior doors are closed as you enter or leave the building.
– Close the blind or draperies overnight. This can create a little dead air space that can provide some protection.
– In buildings with heating units on exterior walls using fans for air circulation, leave the fans on overnight.
– Doors on sink cabinets should be left open overnight to allow additional heat to reach pipes and drains.
While heat will run in all campus buildings 24 hours a day during this cold spell, temperatures may likely not be at the normal levels due to the demands being placed on heating systems. For that reason, be sure to dress warm and plan on cooler than normal temperatures in work areas.
