RICHLAND — Nicholas Zaharevich, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and a senior at WSU Tri-Cities, will talk about “The Changing Face of Veterans” at a Nov. 6 event.

The pre-Veterans Day event is at 4:30 p.m. in the West Building Atrium, 2710 University Drive, Richland. It is sponsored by the Associated Students of WSU Tri-Cities. Admission is free and open to the public — local veterans are especially encouraged to attend.

“There is a new generation of veterans,” Zaharevich said. “We have different goals, needs and concerns than did the traditional image of a World War II or a Vietnam-era vet.”

Zaharevich is a psychology major and an Officer Candidate in the U.S. Army. He also works as the WSU Tri-Cities representative for the Office of Veterans Affairs.

His speech is preceded by a performance and brief address by Kyna Harris, the 2008-2009 Miss Tri-Cities and a WSU Tri-Cities student.
