WSU ranked in top 50 for entrepreneurship

PULLMAN –  WSU was distinguished as having one of the top 50 entrepreneurship programs out of 2,300 schools surved in Entrepreneur magazing and Princeton Review.

The Center for Entrepreneurial Studies in the WSU College of Business ranked 18th in the undergraduate category of the survey.

The 6th annual ranking reveals the nation’s Top 25 undergraduate and Top 25 graduate programs for entrepreneurship. The College of Business ranking can be seen at www.entrepreneur.com/topcolleges, along with information on overall trends found with social and environmental entrepreneurship, experiential learning and entrepreneurship as a means of reaching out both internationally and locally.

The WSU College of Business was evaluated based on key criteria in the areas of academics and requirements, students and faculty and outside-the-classroom experiences.

“This ranking is a fitting tribute to all the outstanding students, faculty, staff and leaders who have shepherded this program since its inception in the early 1990s as one of the first programs of its kind in the country under then-Dean Rom Markin,” said Len Jessup, director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and Markin Endowed Chair in Business Leadership for the College of Business. “It is also a fitting legacy for the Huber family, whose funding helped launch the program, and to the many successful, entrepreneurial Cougar alumni throughout the world.”

Amy Cosper, VP/editor in chief at Entrepreneur, said, “Each school that made the list demonstrates excellence in one or more areas—whether in regards to course offerings, the success of students post-graduation, sponsored mentorship programs, or other important factors. Schools that made the ranking are an excellent research starting point for prospective entrepreneurship students.”

The results of the survey, along with the analysis, will appear in the October issue of Entrepreneur, which hits newsstands on Sept. 23. Additional information on each school can be found at www.entrepreneur.com/topcolleges.
