Famed pianist plays at Kimbrough Concert Hall

PULLMAN – Kevin Ayesh, a professional pianist from North Carolina, will bring his talents to WSUat 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, at the Kimbrough Concert Hall on campus.
 
Ayesh, who began studying piano at the age of eight, graduated with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a bachelor’s degree in music.
 
He went on to receive his master’s and doctorate degrees in music from the University of Maryland.
 
Throughout his career, Ayesh has performed with several orchestras for audiences across the country and has received several awards for his musical talents.
 
His awards include: theNaftzger Piano Award and the Baltimore Music Club Award. He was also the winner of both the JCC Baltimore Piano Competition and the Maryland State Music Teachers’ Elizabeth R. Davis Memorial Piano Competition.
 
Ayesh is currently the head of the Music Department and the artistic director for the annual concert at Blue Ridge Community College in North Carolina.
 
He teaches courses in applied and class piano as well as music theory, history and appreciation. Ayesh has also taught piano for hundreds of students in the Washington D.C. area.
 
His program at WSU will include performances of Sonata in E Major, Op. 14, No. 1 from Ludwig van Beethoven and Rhapsody in Blue from George Gershwin. The concert is free and open to the public.
