K. Frank Kirkbride was awarded the WSU Alumni Association Alumni Achievement Award in recognition of his community and state involvement on many state boards, commissions, task forces and volunteer organizations.

The Alumni Achievement Award is the WSU Alumni Association’s most prestigious honor and was presented to Kirkbride in Olympia on Feb. 28 during a WSU Athletic Foundation Cougar Club event.

Kirkbride has made a positive impact on the lives of many through his work on the board of directors for the Morningside Organization, as the City of Lacey fire commissioner and by serving on the Lacey Core Area Task Force. Kirkbride was instrumental in adding a new Medic One Advanced Life Support Team to the community. Currently he serves as president of The Kirkbride Group, Inc. and COO of the Sovran Development Group.

A 1969 WSU graduate, Kirkbride currently serves on the WSU Foundation Board of Trustees and has served as president and vice president of the WSU Athletic Foundation South Sound Cougar Club Chapter. He is also a Life Member of the WSU Alumni Association and graduated in the Honors program at WSU, receiving his Bachelor of Sciences with an emphasis in landscape architecture.

The WSUAA Alumni Achievement Award was created in 1970 by the WSUAA Board of Directors to recognize alumni who have given outstanding service to WSU and made contributions to their professions and communities. The award also serves as encouragement to alumni to provide perpetual service to Washington State University. Out of an estimated 250,000 total WSU graduates, Kirkbride is the 469st recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award.
