Nominations sought for distinction awards

PULLMAN — Nominations for the WSU Women of Distinction and Woman of the Year awards will be accepted online through March 7.

The Women of Distinction awards are presented to a WSU alumna, an employee, a student and a woman from outside WSU. All nominees are eligible for the Woman of the Year award. Awards will be presented at the Women’s Recognition Luncheon on April 16 at the Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum.

The luncheon will include the “Reinterpreting Reality” art exhibit and panel discussion based on the 2008  theme for Women’s History Month, “Women’s Art: Women’s Vision.”

WSU faculty, staff, students and community members from all campuses are encouraged to submit an official form with their candidate proposals.

“I believe the tireless efforts of women in our community to increase awareness of women and family issues are incredible. These women give their time, money and expertise with no expectations except understanding,” said Carolyn Emerson, chair-elect of the Commission on the Status of Women and the awards committee.

The awards are presented annually by WSU in recognition of National Women’s History Month. The selection process is done by a committee comprised of representatives from the President’s Commission on the Status of Women, the President’s Office, the Women’s Resource Center, the Department of Women’s Studies, the Association for Faculty Women and the Coalition for Women Students.

Nomination forms may be submitted online through a link at http://www.women.wsu.edu or
