WSU’s Visual, Performing, and Literary Arts Committee (VPLAC) presents Rich Kiamco performing UNACCESSORIZED on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Bryan Hall Theatre.
This event is part of VPLAC’s 2007-2008 thematic series “Unity Through the Arts” and is free and open to all.
In his one-man autobiopic show UNACCESSORIZED, writer and actor Rich Kiamco unites sharp humor, poignant truth, lush sound design and crisp choreography to shred cultural legacy into a hilariously insightful adventure.
A queer overachieving Filipino comes out at age 14, faces hate crimes at school, prayer vigils from Mom, and the threat of electroshock therapy from Dad.
Escaping from suburban Illinois to New York City, he looks for love, enlightenment, and the perfect shade of beige.
Written and performed by Rich Kiamco and directed by Dan Bacalzo, UNACCESSORIZED received the Overall Excellence Award in Solo Performance at the New York International Fringe Festival and Best Solo Performance at the Montreal GLBT International Theatre Festival.
Rich was featured on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, was a host of the WE channel’s Three Men and a Chick Flick, appeared on Q Television’s Queer Edge, to name a few.
He has also appeared in Las Vegas, on The Howard Stern Show and venues nationwide as the side-kick to comedian Judy Tenuta, and performs with Peeling, an Asian-American performance collective based in New York City.
