• Associate professor Dawn Shinew, who coordinated significant changes in the way WSU education majors are prepared for classroom teaching, was honored with the 2007 Washington Award for Excellence in Teacher Preparation. This is the third time the award has gone to a WSU College of Education faculty member.
 
• Graduate student Adam Donohue, who graduated in December, is featured in the recent education issue of Jazziz magazine, one of the top jazz publications in the world. Additionally, the magazine lists WSU as “one of the best educational institutions for jazz.”
 
Cindy Corbett, associate professor at the Intercollegiate College of Nursing, has been elected as Region 1 chapter coordinator for the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International. The society promotes nursing excellence through its initiatives in research, leadership, an electronic library, programming and publications and develops and distributes nursing knowledge for use in practice.
