The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a new regulation as part of its antiterrorism mission to identify, assess and ensure effective security in facilities where more than 300 chemicals of interest are used, stored or distributed. 

This new regulation first requires that chemical facilities, including colleges and universities, locate and inventory chemicals of interest and report to DHS.  WSU’s Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) has developed an online registration and inventory tool to aid compliance.

WSU faculty, staff, contractors and tenants who use, store or distribute any chemicals in WSU facilities must register through this online tool at http://www.ehs.wsu.edu/chem-inv.

Hard copy registration or inventory forms available from the website must be mailed to WSU Environmental Health and Safety Mail Stop 1172, Pullman by Jan. 31, 2008.

EH&S will then compile and analyze the data from the inventory forms from WSU facilities statewide and prepare the report for DHS.
