They’re not a garage band, but the WSU women’s basketball team recently became wrap artists for an evening in a Pullman garage.
They were wrapping Christmas gifts donated by the Pullman Rotary Club for two needy families “adopted” through the Pullman Community Action center.
Women’s basketball coach June Daugherty had spoken earlier this year at a club meeting, saying her team was willing to be involved in service to the community.
“We had this need (for wrapping), and they jumped in and volunteered their time,” said Kathleen Warren, Rotary member and director of WSU Foundation relations.
The women wrapped the gifts in the garage of a local Rotarian.
“With all of them working, we got it done in about an hour and a quarter,” Warren said. “It would have taken a few of us hours.
“We are so grateful for the help.”
