PULLMAN – A full slate of activities will take place during WSU Dad’s Weekend Nov. 9-10 as the Cougars make ready to take on the Stanford University’s Cardinal in a Pac-10 football match-up Nov. 10 at Martin Stadium.
Friday events include a 5-7 p.m. and a 8-10 p.m. Brewfest at Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Events Center. The event is organized by members of Sigma Iota, a student –run association in the School of Hospitality and Business Management. Along with a selection of beers from the Northwest, there will be hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and music by the student band Orjazzmic. A shuttle service will run through the evening to and from the event. Tickets are $30 and are available at www.brewfest.wsu.edu.
The National Student Advertising Competition Team will hold an auction at 5:30 p.m. at the School of Communication Addition (CADD) lobby. Featured auction items include a basketball autographed by Coach Tony Bennett’s NCAA Tournament team, travel packages, hotel nights and sports memorabilia. Admission for the auction is $5 and includes a beverage and viewing of the London International Advertising Awards film in the CADD Auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door, and at various locations on campus Nov. 5-7.
At 8 p.m. the School of Music will offer its annual Vocal Extravaganza in Bryan Hall Theater. The concert will include performances by the WSU Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers, University Singers, VoJazz, and Crimson Revue. People attending will enjoy a variety of music including madrigals by John Dowland and Giovanni Gastold, music from Mozart, the Beatles or Lionel Richie and songs from the musicals “Wicked’ and “Dreamgirls”.
Tickets will be available Nov. 7-9, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the lobby of Kimbrough Hall or at the door the night of the performance beginning at 6 pm in Bryan Hall. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and senior citizens.
On Saturday, people can witness the fourth Annual Pumpkin Drop at 11 a.m. at Webster Hall. The drop will try once again to prove that two unequal masses dropped at the same time will land at the same time, rather than the heavier one landing first.
There will be a food fair three hours before kickoff and a post-game event with refreshments one-and-a-half hours following the football game. Both events will take place at Hollingbery Fieldhouse (north of Martin Stadium)
The Doobie Brothers will perform at 8:30 p.m. at Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum. The group is known for blues based songs with a rock edge. Tickets are $38.50 and can be purchased at Beasley Coliseum, at TicketsWest or by calling 1-800-325-SEAT.
