WSU President Elson S. Floyd will be keynote speaker for the inaugural Leadership Development banquet and silent auction, scheduled for Nov. 16.

The 6 p.m. Friday event, organized by students in WSU’s leadership development class, will be held at Schweitzer Engineering Labs Event Center. Proceeds will be used to create an endowed scholarship for students demonstrating exemplary leadership at the university and in the Pullman community. 

Goods and services to be auctioned include a week’s vacation in Hawaii, and a WSU basketball jersey signed by coach Tony Bennett and his team. The evening will feature live jazz and a display of works by WSU student artists. Catering will be provided by the Fireside Grill.

The WSU leadership studies minor attracts students from many fields of study.   The program emphasizes community service and exposes students to leadership skills and styles, critical thinking, creative problem solving, organizational behavior, motivation, negotiation, management theories, communications skills, and related subjects.
