Everyone is welcome to attend the 4th Annual WSU Environmentaln Health & Safety Conference and Award Ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Schweitzer Engineering Event Center located at 1825 Schweitzer Drive in Pullman.
Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. for conference participants to collect information from and interact with various WSU and community organizations who provide services.
The first presentation at noon will be panel discussion featuring Pullman and Moscow law enforcement officers and mental health specialists to discuss community and workplace violence. Bring your favorite sack lunch and listen to this panel.
Following the public event, the conference will focus on WSU’s newly implemented emergency response plans and installed equipment.
WSU safety committee members, department heads, and administrators will learn first hand from a panel of WSU officials how the recently installed siren and public address system will function, as well as plans for electronic notification systems to employees and students during emergencies affecting WSU and the surrounding communities.
The schedule also includes educational seminars regarding laboratory safety, developing emergency response plans, wellbeing and stress management, food and water availability during emergencies, and ergonomics.
In addition, WSU Provost Robert Bates will present special awards to safety committees and individuals for outstanding work in environmental, health, and safety activities during the past year.
