Jacqueline (Jackie) Knight, the operations center supervisor for Facilities Operations, was presented with the Ralph Monro Longevity Award on Tuesday, June 26, during the annual Fac Ops barbeque picnic.
Knight currently tops the list of state classified staff with the most longevity at each of the WSU campuses, and celebrated her 46th anniversary on June 26.
She started as a key punch operator in Pullman on June 26, 1961, and has progressed through the ranks to her present position, which she has held since August 1983.
The biggest change Knight says she has seen at WSU is the construction and growth on the Pullman campus. “We have built so many buildings, and the college has grown so big.”
Knight feels the impact of that growth directly, as she coordinates the maintenance all campus buildings.
“There is something new every day,” she said. “There is always a challenge, always something going on.”
During the picnic and ceremoney, Floyd was presented with a hardhat and safety T-shirt by Jim VanderZanden, chair of the Safety Committee.
Presenting the award to to Knight was WSU President Elson S. Floyd, as well as Ev Davis, associate vice president for Facilities Operations (photo above), and Greg Royer, vice president for Business and Finance.
More than 300 people attended the Fac Ops barbeque luncheon, enjoying a full menu featuring freshly grilled hamburgers and hotdogs.
