WSU Theatre announces Spring productions

PULLMAN– Washington State University’s Theatre Arts Program will present three new productions for spring semester 2007 beginning Feb. 8.

All shows begin at 8 p.m., unless another time is specified.

The first production of the semester is “The Golden Age” by Louisa Norwa, set to run Feb. 8-10 and Feb. 15-17. This play is based on true events and explores diversity through the experiences of a group of people “discovered” in the wilds of 1939 Borneo. It is a story of how obsessions, war and cultural misunderstandings lead to a strange and tragic confrontation. This presentation is for mature audiences.

The second production of the semester, Beth Henley’s “The Miss Firecracker Contest,” will run April 5-7 and April 12-14 with a 2 p.m. matinee on April 14. “The Miss Firecracker Contest” is an explosively funny Southern Gothic about a small town beauty contest full of suspense, conflict and hope.

Henley is the Pulitzer Prize winning author of “Crimes of the Heart.”

The Last production of the semester is “Dancemotion,” a dance recital, set to run April 20-21 in the Jones Theatre.

Play tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for WSU students, $7.50 for seniors and free for graduate/professional students and domestic partners. Dance performance tickets are $5 for all with no discounts. Reservations can be made at (509) 335-7236 or reservations@wsu.edu. Tickets can be purchased at the box office during the weeks of performance only – Wednesday through Friday 2-5:30 p.m. – and one hour prior to each performance.
