‘Alumni Cup’ competition provides scholarship funds

Before the winner of the 2006 Apple Cup is declared on the field, Tully’s Coffee Corporation, the Pacific Northwest’s largest fully handcrafted coffee roaster, will partner with the Washington State University and University of Washington alumni associations to fuel its own ‘Alumni Cup’ competition by selling Crimson Roast and Husky Blend organic and fair trade coffee in all Washington stores Nov. 8 – 18.

Each 12 oz. blend will sell for $8.95 with 10 percent of net proceeds being donated to the corresponding school’s alumni association scholarship fund.

“Tully’s is putting forth this challenge to demonstrate its support of education and to celebrate this time-honored tradition,” said John Buller, president and CEO of Tully’s. “As former head of the University of Washington’s Alumni Association, I know the money we raise for both schools will support students and alumni association programs for years to come.”

“We are excited that our relationship with Tully’s Coffee has begun to expand into new initiatives,” said Jud Preece, WSU Alumni Relations marketing director.”WSUAA members enjoy discounts and receive additional benefits by visiting a Tully’s store and the proceeds from this promotion enables the WSU Alumni Association to expand the programs and services we offer.”

Fans can also show school pride by purchasing either a Crimson Wild Berry or a Husky Purple Antioxidant Smoothie and by buying a specialty Apple Cuplet crafted by Finale’s bakery in Washington.

To find a Tully’s location near you, visit www.alumni.wsu.edu/benefits and click on the Tully’s Coffee link. WSU Alumni Association members save 10 percent on all beverages served at all Tully’s locations. Additionally, if you choose to purchase a Tully’s gift card and load more than thirty dollars onto it, Tully’s will add 10 percent of that total onto the card.
