PEMCO CEO to deliver 14th Annual Walton Lecture

PULLMAN  – Stan McNaughton, CEO of PEMCO Insurance, will be the featured speaker for the Washington State University College of Business’ 14th annual Walton Lecture on Oct. 16. McNaughton’s presentation, entitled “You and the CEO: Things you do to influence what a CEO does,” will be given at 5:00 pm in Todd 276.

Before joining PEMCO in 1986, McNaughton served for 13 years as the corporate treasurer for the Herald Newspaper in Everett, Wash. During the prior five years, he worked at Price Waterhouse as a CPA.

McNaughton serves on the boards of many professional organizations, including Washington Roundtable, Washington Insurance Council, and Washington Research Council. He gives substantial time and effort to several charitable and safety organizations, serving on the boards of Partnership for Learning, Junior Achievement, Camp Brotherhood, Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound, and the Discovery Institute. He also serves as an advisory board member for the Seattle University Albers School of Business.

PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company began operations in 1949 and now provides auto, home, boat, and life insurance to more than 530,000 Washington residents. Based in Seattle, the company employs more than 600 people statewide. The alliance of PEMCO companies includes PEMCO Insurance, School Employees Credit Union of Washington, EvergreenBank, and PEMCO Technology Services.

The Walton Lecture is sponsored by the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Washington to honor their past president, Max Walton. The annual lecture has brought prominent individuals from the insurance and risk management field to WSU, including Harold Gray, senior vice president of the Pacific Northwest Zone of State Farm Insurance Co.; Gerald P. Schmidt,president and CEO of Mutual of Enumclaw Insurance Company; Mike McGavick, former chair, president, and CEO of Safeco Insurance Co.; Dr. Robert P.Hartwig, senior VP and chief economist of the Insurance Information Institute; and the Honorable Mike Kreidler, Washington State Insurance Commissioner.
