The WSU Board of Regents is expected to take actions regarding two major construction projects for the Pullman campus when the board meets Friday, March 3 at 9 a.m. in the Consolidated Information Center on the WSU Tri-Cities campus.

The regents will be asked to authorize issuing revenue bonds to pay for the renovation of the Compton Union Building. The building is slated to be closed at the end of spring semester; scheduled completion date for the project is August 2008.
The regents will consider a proposed lease with the Student Book Corporation; the Bookie will become an anchor tenant in the renovated CUB. The lease rate is about $1.06 million yearly for 30 years.
Renovation of Martin Stadium is also on the agenda. The regents will be asked to give the go-ahead for selection of a general contractor/construction manager for Phases 1 and 2 of the proposed project. Projected cost for those two phases, which includes expansion and renovation of the east end zone, south stands and north concourse areas, is up to $30 million.
The regents will consider purchase of the property that currently is home to the Bookie at 700 NE Thatuna on the Pullman campus. The university would pay the appraised value of $4.5 million; the building would be converted for educational uses.
Other items on the agenda are approval of the schematic design for the Center for Precision Agricultural Systems in Prosser and the purchase of Sunrise Orchards near Palisades as a research site for $1.1 million.
Committees of the Board of Regents will meet Thursday on the WSU Tri-Cities campus.
