PULLMAN — The School of Music and Theatre Arts will perform its fourth consecutive summer musical when it hits the stage next month in “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”

The production will be presented July 22-23 and 29-30 in Bryan Hall Theatre on the WSU campus. Performances are set for 7 p.m. on Fridays and 3 p.m. on Saturdays.  Tickets are $10 for adults $5 for students and senior citizens and will be on sale at the door an hour before each performance. The musical was written and composed by Clark Gesner.

The cast of characters includes the lovable children from the “Peanuts” cartoons and comic scripts, including Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy, Schroeder and Sally.  The events of an average day in the life of these children are depicted through short scenes, song and dance, including some of the most beloved “Peanuts” moments.

Snoopy is still fighting the Red Baron and looking for his next meal. Lucy, wanting to be queen, continues to boss everyone around, including her little brother, Linus, who seeks solace with his blanket.  Sally, Charlie’s precocious little sister, still struggles with jumping rope and bad grades, while Schroeder is completely immersed in his music, especially Beethoven.  Finally, the ever constant Charlie Brown still “has never pitched a winning baseball game, never been able to keep a kite in the air, never won a game of checkers and never successfully punted a football.”  His good friends, however, still claim “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”

The cast includes Daniel Tedor (sophomore vocal performance major) as Charlie Brown, Matthew Collins (senior music business major) as Snoopy, Erich Bielski (senior music education major) as Linus, Kim Lauckhart (graduate speech and hearing sciences major) as Lucy, Tyler Evans (graduate piano major) as Schroeder and Lacey Perry (sophomore music business major) as Sally. The production will be directed by Julie Anne Wieck, accompanied by graduate piano major Katie Medina and conducted by graduate student Aleks Sternfeld-Dunn.

Editor’s note: Rehearsals are Monday through Thursday from 6-8 p.m. in Kimbrough Concert Hall, Room 115. Photographers are welcome.
