Interim dean Fox accepts top post

PULLMAN — Linda Kirk Fox has accepted the position of dean and director of WSU Extension effective June 1.

“Linda Fox is an experienced administrator who has demonstrated widely recognized expertise and leadership in extension, both locally and nationally,” said Robert C. Bates, provost and academic vice president. “It is clear that she has broad support for her accomplishments over the past four years. We are fortunate that she will continue to advance the mission of the university as dean. I look forward to working with her.”

Prior to this assignment, Fox served as interim dean and director from Sept. 1, 2004 to the present. She has 20 years of experience with Idaho Extension prior to joining Washington State University in February 2002 as associate dean and associate director of extension. She brings a wealth of administrative experience in a land-grant setting to her new position, having served as an extension district director, a department chair and as the head of the School of Family and Consumer Sciences at Idaho. She joined the UI faculty in 1981.

Fox holds three degrees from Oregon State University, including a doctorate in family resource management. She was born in Garden City, Kansas. She is active with the Board on Human Sciences of NASULGC (National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges). She is also interested in seeking additional funding to support extension programs.

WSU Extension has more than 720 faculty and academic staff on four campuses; five research and extension centers and 10 learning centers. Extension sites are located in each of the state’s 39 counties and at the WSU Extension Energy Program in Olympia.
