PERS retirement seminar June 11

A free retirement seminar for those with the Public Employee’s Retirement System (PERS) will be held all day Saturday, June 11, at WSU Pullman.

“It is never too early to start thinking about and planning for your retirement,” said Marie Weiss, WSU benefit specialist. “The Department of Retirement Systems comes once every two years to Pullman, so make this important event a ‘must do,’ register and attend each of the sessions.”

Previous attendees at this seminar have said they have a better idea of what planning needs to be done before they retire, Weiss said.

The seminar, for PERS 1, 2 and 3 participants, covers a broad range of topics such as financial planning, estate planning, social security benefits and retiree health insurance benefits. Spouses or partners are welcome to attend.

Registration is required and may be done via the Internet, phone, e-mail or U.S. mail:
• Internet: https://fortress.wa.gov/drs/retirementplanning/main.asp
• Phone: 1-888-711-6676
• E-mail: register@drs.wa.gov
• U.S. mail: DRS, P.O. Box 48380, Olympia, WA 98504-8380.

Once registered, you will receive a confirmation letter 10 days before the event with a map and directions to the location.
