PULLMAN, Wash. — Registration for the Washington State University 8th Annual Campus on the Run 5K fun run will begin Monday, Feb. 7, with proceeds to benefit the Whitman County Humane Society.

For the second year, Campus on the Run will be open to both campus and community members.

The cost to enter is $12 for WSU students and $15 for non-students. Registration forms are available online at www.hws.wsu.edu/funrun and www.urec.wsu.edu, and at the Student Recreation Center. The deadline to register and receive an event T-shirt is March 11. The race is set for 9:30 a.m. March 26.

Proceeds from the event will be used to support SNAP (Spay/Neuter Action Project), a program that provides vouchers to low-income individuals and families to help subsidize or pay the entire cost of spay and neuter surgeries by local veterinarians.

Unwanted litters of dogs and cats remain high in Whitman County. Through the vouchers, SNAP hopes to decrease the unwanted pet populations that often lead to the euthanization of unwanted animals.

Last year’s Campus on the Run participants helped award $1,200 to the Council on Aging and Human Services. The money raised was used to develop a food bank distribution site in Rosalia to operate in conjunction with the Colfax food bank. More than 450 campus and community members participated in last year’s event.

Campus on the Run is co-sponsored by University Recreation, Health and Wellness Services and the Community Service Learning Center. For more information on the event, visit www.hws.wsu.edu/funrun.
