MyWSU portal marks first year with new look, extras

The next step in WSU’s vision for a seamless online informational environment is complete. The myWSU portal turns one year old this month, and that anniversary comes with a few upgrades, said Mary Doyle, vice president for Information Systems.

MyWSU portal is a one-stop spot for members of the WSU community to get key information, conduct business transactions and branch out to additional resources.

The improved portal, which will be up by mid January, boasts elements such as:

• MyTools, a selection of tools to use on the portal
• MyLinks, personal links the user manages
• Links to individual campus information sites

In addition, the face of the site has been remodeled to look and function just as other sites in the WSU Web community.

When the portal was introduced in early 2004, just over 4,000 people visited the site regularly. By December 2004, the site was serving more than 5,200 regular users, said Nils Peterson, assistant director of the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology.
