Filmmaker to present documentary Nov. 7

Washington State University’s Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum will present Mike Shiley, producer and director of Shidog Films, as he hosts a Nov. 7 showing of his documentary “Inside Iraq: The Untold Stories.”

The 80-minute film will be shown at 7 p.m. in Beasley Coliseum. Tickets are $5 each and are available through all TicketsWest outlets, by phone at (800) 325-SEAT or online at www.beasley.wsu.edu.

The film highlights the challenges, opportunities and the inside lives of the Iraqi people and the U.S. soldiers stationed in Iraq.

Shiley traveled Iraq from the Kurdish-controlled region in the North, through the infamous Sunni Triangle in central Iraq and to the Shiite-controlled cities in the South. He visited impoverished villages
with Western medical teams, went on night patrols along the Syrian border in a tank squadron, flew over the country in a Blackhawk helicopter and
walked the streets of Baghdad uncovering the lives of the Iraqi people.

A photographer, filmmaker and freelance journalist, Shiley recently returned from two months in Iraq where he developed exclusive stories for ABC’s “World News Tonight” and “Good Morning America” and NBC’s “Nightline.”

The filmmaker will introduce the movie and give comments and answer questions at the end of the film, which can be previewed online at www.insideiraqthemovie.com.
