WSU men’s rowing will hold its annual Ergathon fundraiser 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 3-4, under a tent outside the CUB on Terrell Mall. The 40-member team must row at least 1 million meters within the 20-hour window using four rowing ergometers (machines that measure exercise).
“This is the team’s most important fundraiser of the year,” said captain Danny Brevick (senior, Construction Management). “Most of our budget does not come from the school, but through a variety of fund-raising work projects.”
“Half of these donations will be given to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, to help treat children with cancer and other catastrophic illnesses,” added coxswain Julia Anderson (junior, Agricultural Education). “We hope that this good cause will inspire the rowers to pull even harder, and the people on campus to make a supportive donation.”
Men’s rowing is a club sport that competes against most collegiate crews in the western U.S., including the Pac-10 conference. The team practices on the Snake River.
Donation jars will be at the event for cash or checks made payable to “WSU Men’s Crew.”
