British Brass Ensemble to Perform at WSU Sept. 29

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University will bring the British ensemble Onyx Brass to the Pullman campus Wednesday (Sept. 29) for a 7:30 p.m. performance in Bryan Hall Theatre.

Onyx Brass was formed in 1993 by five former principal musicians of England‘s National Youth Orchestra – Brian Thomson and Niall Keatley, both on trumpet, Andrew Sutton, horn, Amos Miller, trombone, and David Gordon Shute on tuba.

All five musicians are graduates of leading British universities and music colleges and have performed in some of the world’s top orchestras, including Philharmonia, BBC Philharmonic, the Royal Opera House, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, the Hall Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern, London Brass, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic to name but a few.

BBC Music Magazine said Onyx Brass is “easily the classiest brass ensemble in Britain.”
