Open House Provides World-class Opportunity for Students Looking to Attend WSU Vancouver Engineering and Science Institute

VANCOUVER, Wash. — High-achieving students interested in biology, computer science or mechanical engineering are invited to attend a Feb. 26 open house for the new WSU Vancouver Engineering and Science Institute.

The event will be from 6-8 p.m. in the Multimedia Building lecture hall, Room 6.

Attendees will learn how to pursue a bachelor’s degree in biology and computer science or a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering. They will have the opportunity to meet faculty, research financial aid and scholarship opportunities and enter a raffle for WSU souvenirs. Students also will tour laboratories whose faculty researchers are working in robotics, device diagnostics, computer programming, ecology and conservation of marine life, biochemistry, neurophysiology and artificial intelligence.

The institute — a partnership between WSU Vancouver, Clark College and Lower Columbia College — combines WSU Vancouver’s cutting-edge research capabilities and state-of-the-art science and computer labs with faculty expertise from all three institutions. As a result of the partnership, students can earn a WSU bachelor’s degree while ensuring a smooth transition from lower- to upper-division undergraduate course work.

Admissions information for the WSU Vancouver Engineering and Science Institute is available at each of the three campuses. For more information at Clark College, call (360) 992-2107, Lower Columbia College, (360) 442-2311 or WSU Vancouver, (360) 546-9779.

Refreshments will be served and parking is free. For more information on the open house, contact WSU Vancouver’s Student Services office at (360) 546-9779. WSU Vancouver is located about 10 miles north of the Columbia River and the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area. Take the 134th Street exit from either I-5 or I-205.
