PULLMAN, Wash. — Lynda Paznokas, an associate professor at Washington State University’s College of Education and the Department of Teaching and Learning, is the Washington State Teachers Association Higher Education Science Teacher of 2003.
Paznokas teaches methods classes for elementary education and also teaches a multidisciplinary approach to learning through the exploration of Lewis and Clark.
“I feel it is rewarding to work with preservice teachers as they develop their teaching skills through the subject of science,” she said. “My role is to help them enthusiastically believe they can teach science, overcome any fears and understand curriculum integration.”
Paznokas is also involved with many different organizations in the community, including Family Science Nights, Science Fair workshops, informal science festivals and high school equivalency events.
A faculty member at WSU since 1999, she also earned a bachelor’s degree from the university in 1972. Paznokas also has a master’s degree from Portland State University (1975) and a doctorate from Oregon State University (1984).
