PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University will present a free screening of the award-winning PBS documentary “False Promises: The Lost Land of the Wenatchi,” on Nov.17 from 7-9 p.m. in the Compton Union Building Ballroom.

After more than 100 years of failed attempts to regain the treaty rights promised to them by the U.S. government, the Wenatchi people of the Colville Indian Reservation are now aiming to educate the public about the issue and asking for public support.

Tribal elders will be available for questions following the film, including Mathew Dick, the great-grandson of Chief John Harmelt (1853-1937), the last leader of the Wenatchi Tribe.
