PULLMAN, Wash. — Auditions for the Washington State University spring 2004 benefit production of “The Vagina Monologues” will be from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 13-14 in the Compton Union Building, Room 220.
The auditions are open to all women affiliated with WSU. No theater experience is required. WSU faculty and staff are encouraged to participate.
“The Vagina Monologues” celebrates women’s sexuality and strength while exposing the violations women endure throughout the world. Playwright Eve Ensler based the play on her interviews with more than 200 women worldwide about their experiences with violence.
The Sexual Information and Referral Center is organizing the production as part of the V-Day College Campaign (www.vday.org), a global movement that supports antiviolence organizations throughout the world while drawing attention to the fight to stop worldwide violence against women and girls. A goal of the college campaign is to empower the leaders, shapers and messengers of the future.
Proceeds from the 2003 production were donated to the WSU Sexual Violence Task Force and Alternatives to Violence of the Palouse. The 2004 proceeds will be donated to local organizations working to stop violence against women and girls on the Palouse.
Cast positions are not available for men, but WSU men are encouraged to volunteer with the production.
