Lisa Simpson Brings Folk Music to WSU July 9

PULLMAN, Wash. — Songwriter and contemporary folk singer Lisa Simpson will present some of her songs July 9 at Washington State University on Glenn Terrell Mall from noon-1 p.m.

Simpson, who started her career as a teenage musician with the band Liquid Chicken, now goes solo with her guitar and her own songs.

The songwriter has recorded two CDs “ Taken Lightly” in 1999 and “Steeping Orion” in 2002.

In addition to WSU, Simpson has performed at the University of Idaho, Moscow’s Hemp Fest, the Renaissance Fair, Harvest of Harmony and at several peace and civil rights rallies.

The folk singer has performed with a variety of local artists, including Dan Maher, Jennifer Bresnahan and Oracle Shack, as well as nationally touring artists such as Judy Gorman and Art Alexakis of Everclear.

Simpson’s performance is a free event sponsored by Campus Involvement as part of WSU’s summer Music on the Mall series.
