WSU Liberal Arts Dean Appointed to National College Board

PULLMAN, Wash. — Barbara Couture, dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Washington State University, is a newly appointed member of the Board of Directors for the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences.

“It’s an honor to have been elected,” Couture said. “I think it speaks very highly of the reputation of Washington State University and what the member deans believe a representative of WSU is able to bring to the table.”

CCAS is an international organization of more than 500 arts and sciences colleges, including both public and private independent institutions and colleges within universities.

According to the CCAS Web site, the nine-member council supports programs and activities that improve the intellectual stature and public understanding of the disciplines of the arts and sciences. Membership includes nearly 680 deans of colleges of arts and sciences at 481 institutions in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, France, Mexico and the United Kingdom.”
