PULLMAN, Wash. — Now Cougar fans can view scenes from Washington State University’s first Rose Bowl appearance in 1916 when the Cougars defeated Brown University 14-0.

The recent addition to WSU’s Manuscripts, Archives and Special Collections digital collection is a 7-minute silent streaming video that highlights the players and play action from the bowl game played 87 years ago. Asa Clark, captain of WSU’s 1916 Rose Bowl team, filmed the clip.

“We just thought it was a fun and timely thing to do with the Rose Bowl coming up,” said Laila Miletic-Vejzovic, head of WSU’s Manuscripts, Archives and Special Collections.

Mike Walpole, graphic designer for MASC, captured the video; and Trevor Bond, special collections librarian, and Al Cornish, systems librarian, described and prepared the streaming file.

The video can be viewed at MASC’s Web site at www.wsulibs.wsu.edu/holland/masc/masc.htm
