WSU Student Recreation Center Passes One Million Mark Oct. 21

PULLMAN, Wash. — On Monday morning, Washington State University senior Annie Wagner walked unassumingly into the Student Recreation Center in workout attire ready to hit the weights and cardio equipment and became the one millionth user to enter the SRC since it opened in January 2001.

“I love it here. I think it is one of the best things about being a WSU student,” said Wagner about the center. Wagner received a T-shirt and other miscellaneous prizes for being the one millionth user to enter the facility.

Reaching the one millionth mark in less than two years since opening was not unexpected for the Student Recreation Center, which has seen record numbers of users this fall and an average of 2,700 users per weekday.

“We were pleased to have our one millionth user on Monday. She represents the WSU students for whom this facility was built,” said Kathleen Hatch, director of University Recreation.
