PULLMAN, Wash. — Tickets go on sale Monday (Oct. 21) for the 11th Annual Madrigal Dinner at Washington State University. The evening of feasting and entertainment is set for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, in the Compton Union Building Carey Ballroom.
Tickets can be purchased at the CUB front desk or by calling (509) 335-9444 and charging to a credit card. The ticket price of $36 per person includes a sumptuous feast, drink, delightful music presented by the WSU Madrigal Singers, frolic and merriment, said Kirstin Malm, one of the event organizers. Each table seats eight guests. Seating begins at 6 p.m. both evenings.
This year’s dinner, prepared and served by University Catering, begins with of a wide variety of appetizers including smoked salmon pate, assorted Cougar cheese, char-grilled beef skewers and spicy Italian sausage spears. Cheddar potato soup with bacon precedes the entrÃ©e of slow roasted Cornish game hen with orange brandy glaze stuffed with chestnut and sage dressing accompanied by boiled baby red potatoes with fennel and parsley butter and tender petite green beans with julienne carrots and sweet red bell peppers. The meal concludes with a fabulous Chocolate Turret, an individual chocolate dome cake filled with rum and almond chocolate mousse, covered with chocolate ganache, drizzled with white chocolate, served in a moat of caramel sauce, topped with a dollop of whipped cream and a fresh strawberry garnish. Wine and coffee will also be provided. A vegetarian entrÃ©e and salad also is available and should be requested when purchasing tickets.
The WSU Madrigal Singers will be assisted by the WSU Trumpet Ensemble and Carliol Consort. The Madrigal Singers sing and act in the spirit of merry old England during the reign of Good Queen Elisabeth. The 20-member vocal ensemble will be wearing costumes reminiscent of the 16th Century Renaissance period and will be performing traditional English madrigals and ceremonial music such as “Gloucestershire Wassail” and “Salute to the Boar’s Head,” as well as a selection of seasonal favorites.
