WSU Police Arrest Suspects in Computer Thefts

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University police have arrested two men they believe have been part of thefts of university property over the last two years.

Arrested on July 15 was Garry J.R. Sommerfeld, 31, of Pullman. On Friday (July 19) Sami-Jon Daniel McIntosh, 23, of Pullman also was arrested and booked into the Whitman County Jail.

Search warrants were issued for the two suspects’ residences and two area storage units where police found computers and parts reported stolen from several university buildings, including the Information Technology Building and the Smith Center for Undergraduate Education. The recovered items are valued at more than $100,000, according to WSU investigating officers.

WSU police are working with Pullman police to see if any of the recovered items might be among those reported stolen in the area over recent months.
