WSU Vancouver Scholarship Deadline Set for June 1

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Through May, students attending or transferring to Washington State University Vancouver can apply for scholarships for the 2002-03 academic year. The application deadline for more than 30 available scholarships is June 1. Individual scholarship awards range from $200-$3,500.

Last year, 41 WSU Vancouver students received scholarships supported by private gifts to WSU Vancouver from individuals, businesses, organizations and foundations. Ten years ago scholarships at WSU Vancouver totaled $3,500. Today, more than 40 scholarships are awarded from the $1.8 million annual and endowed scholarship funds.

Several new scholarships will be awarded this year including the Glenn Terrell Endowed Nursing Scholarship, the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants SW Chapter Scholarship, the Maxine McReynolds Kirmaier Memorial Scholarship and the Shirley Mae Nelson Memorial Scholarship in Education.

In addition, the John Robert Brown Endowed Scholarship for Emerging Scholars, the Harold F. and Beatrice A. Boutwell Endowed Scholarship will provide additional awards to WSU Vancouver students.
