‘Discovery Sessions in Voice’ at WSU

PULLMAN, Wash. — The Washington State University School of Music and Theatre Arts will host “Discovery Sessions in Voice,” a workshop that allows solo high school vocalists to work individually with WSU voice faculty and students, Feb. 9.

Students from high schools in eastern Washington and Idaho will attend the workshop. Throughout the day, the vocalists will attend mini-classes in vocal technique, vocal health, stage presence and audition preparation. WSU voice faculty Lori Wiest, Julie Wieck, Charles Neufeld and Sheila Converse will participate as teachers of the sessions and masterclasses. The high school vocalists will also hear a recital given by WSU voice faculty and students.

After singing in a masterclass taught by WSU faculty, the high school vocalists will perform in a recital at the end of the workshop. The workshop will focus on individual attention to each of the solo singers, Wieck said.
