Opera Workshop Concert Scheduled for Nov. 15

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s Opera Workshop, directed by faculty member Julie Anne Wieck, will perform scenes from several famous operas during a Nov 15 performance in Bryan Hall Auditorium.

For the 8 p.m. concert, some 30 workshop students will perform scenes from “The Pirates of Penzance,” “Ruddigore” and “Princess Ida,” all by Gilbert and Sullivan. During their 25-year collaboration from 1871-1896, Gilbert and Sullivan wrote 14 operettas. The works are well known for their hilarious story lines and witty dialogue, as well as the challenging music.

Singers include Benjamin Gudgeon, Heather Maib, Tina Paulson, Jessica Heilsberg, Diana Blanco, Marlene Berner, Gwendolyn Bielski, Kristine Gibbons, Holly Robinette, Inveig Solberg, Stephanie Thomas, Megan Beresford, Sarah Busse, Becky Peterson, Brandi Richardson, Emily Squyer, Jaime Miller, Brandy Wheeler, Justin Smith, Dan Stulken, Joel Korkowski, Mark Hansen, Jeff Jaeger, Bill Legg, Jilian Webb, Erin Clancey, Kyle Cox and Christopher Wang.

The concert is free and open to the public.
