PULLMAN, Wash. — Cultural language programs, policy, advocacy and storytelling are some topics at the 2001 Native Languages and Cultures Regional Conference Oct. 8-11 at the Double Tree Hotel-Spokane Valley in Spokane.
The conference will include various workshops, guest speakers, discussion panels and a fashion show dealing with cultural topics and themes.
Washington State University and the WSU Native American Advisory Board created the conference to preserve, revitalize and sustain the languages and cultures of native people for future generations.
WSU and eight area tribes are working together to present tribal language, culture and educational programs. WSU is providing conference coordination in service to the tribes.
Tribal leaders and language instructors, educators and staffs, students and community members are encouraged to attend.
