PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s 2001 commencement can be seen around the world through a live broadcast carried on the Internet.
The Saturday, May 12 commencement ceremonies at 8 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time in Beasley Performing Arts Coliseum will be covered by KWSU-TV/Educational Telecommunications and Technology, say WSU officials.
The broadcast will be fed to WSU’s Web site, www.wsu.edu. A link at the WSU home page will direct visitors to a videostreaming site and other commencement information. Because the videostreaming will not be archived, the only way to see the broadcast over the Internet is live.
It also will be carried live on television Cable 8, available on campus and in the Pullman area.
About 2,000 undergraduate, 345 master’s and 65 doctoral degrees will be conferred this spring from the university, according to the WSU Registrar’s Office.
In the 8 a.m. ceremony for the colleges of Business and Economics and Education, the speaker is WSU graduate Scott E. Carson, president of Connexion by Boeing.
During the 11:30 a.m. ceremony for the colleges of Agriculture and Home Economics, Engineering and Architecture, Nursing, Pharmacy, Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, the speaker is Edward Fritzky, president of Immunex Corp.
In the 3 p.m. ceremony for the College of Liberal Arts, the speaker is Larry EchoHawk, a professor at the J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University, and a former Idaho attorney general.
