Free Songwriters Workshop Feb. 14 at WSU

PULLMAN, Wash. — Hugh Moffatt will be hosting a free songwriters workshop 5-8 p.m. Feb. 14 at Washington State University.

The workshop will be held in Kimbrough Hall, Room 101. Songwriters at all levels and those interested in songwriting should bring songs and ideas that are in need of work.

Moffatt has conducted workshops all over the country, working with songwriters just starting out as well as with seasoned professionals. He has written hits for Dolly Parton, Ronnie Milsap and Johnny Rodriguez. His songs have been recorded by Alabama, Jerry Lee Lewis, Merle Haggard, Patti Page and many others.

Among his latest projects has been his collaboration with composer Michael Ching of Opera Memphis on two successful one-act operas, “King of the Clouds” (1993) and “Out of the Rain” (1998), and they are currently at work on a new opera about Lewis and Clark.

The workshop is sponsored by the WSU School of Music and Theatre Arts.
