WSU Music Faculty to Present Workshop

PULLMAN, Wash. — Discovery Sessions in Voice, a clinic for solo singers at
the high school level, will be presented by faculty from the Washington State
University School of Music and Theatre Arts on Jan. 27.

The daylong workshop, to be held at the Kimbrough Music Building on the
WSU campus, will allow students to advance their knowledge and experience
of vocal techniques. WSU faculty members Lori Wiest, Julie Wieck, Charles
Neufeld and Sheila Converse will instruct short classes on body movement,
vocal technique, healthy use of the voice, stage presence and audition
preparation.

In addition, students can participate in master classes to sing before the
professors and receive a short individual lesson. Master class participants
then will perform a recital at the end of the day.

WSU faculty and students also will perform during an afternoon recital.

For more information or to request an application, contact Wieck at
509/335-4331 or by e-mail at jwieck@wsu.edu. Applications must be mailed by
Dec. 13. Fees are $10 for attending the workshop and $15 for attending the
workshop and participating in a master class. There is limited space in the
master classes and students will be accepted in the order their applications are
received.
