PULLMAN, Wash. — Just before kickoff at Apple Cup 2000 on Nov. 18, Gov. Gary Locke will cut a ceremonial ribbon dedicating a new $500,000 Management Information Systems electronic classroom in the Washington State University College of Business and Economics. At the same event, attended by WSU President V. Lane Rawlins and several distinguished guests, an announcement will be made of an $825,000 gift to the computer lab and the MIS program from a generous, regional corporate supporter.

Media are invited to the event, which will feature technical demonstrations by MIS faculty. Questions about the MIS lab, the gift and donor, the MIS program, and the CBE will be welcomed.
The new MIS e-classroom features 48 networked computer stations; a central teaching command center with touch-screen technology; and three large, wall-mounted display screens. Scheduled to be filled with MIS classes starting in January, the room is also equipped for video-conferencing and distance education teaching.
