PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University has appointed veteran public projects
developer Jerry Schlatter as director of facilities development. The appointment is effective
immediately.
Schlatter will play a lead role in campus planning and facility construction while providing
design and engineering support for operations and development. His responsibilities include
facility administration, policy development and contract administration.
Greg Royer, WSU’s vice president for business affairs, says Schlatter brings an exceptional
degree of experience to the job. “WSU has more than $300 million in construction projects at
some stage of development. Jerry brings the kind of expertise needed to see these and future
projects through to completion.”
Schlatter, a registered architect, has more than 20 years of combined experience in facilities
planning, design and development, and project and construction management. He held the
position of project manager for the $58.8 million multi-purpose Spokane Arena, completed in
1995. He also managed the construction of the 65,000 seat Kingdome in Seattle, completed in
1976.
Principal of his own consulting firm, Schlatter Associates, since 1996, Schlatter has served
as a consultant to the Spokane Public Facilities District and as mediator for the Spokane Transit
Authority’s Downtown Center.
Schlatter received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Idaho in 1960.
He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the American Institute of Certified
Planners, and the Dispute Resolution Foundation.
