WSU Football Fans Urged to Use Alternate Routes

PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University football fans traveling to games are
urged to avoid highway construction delays by using one of several alternative routes to
Pullman. Football season begins Saturday, Sept. 4.
Road construction is currently slowing traffic on Highway 195 between Colfax and Steptoe.
The work is expected to continue through September.
Vehicles are being detoured around the project on a narrow secondary road, resulting in
delays of about 15 minutes. These delays will increase with heavy traffic.
Suggested alternative routes to Cougar football games include:
— From the immediate Spokane area and from areas west of Spokane, exit 195 at Rosalia, take
Highway 271 east to Highway 27, then go south through Oakesdale, Garfield and Palouse to
Pullman.
— For fans in the Spokane Valley, use Pines Road south to Highway 27, then travel south
through Fairfield, Tekoa, Oakesdale, Garfield and Palouse to Pullman.
— Fans in Northern Idaho and in extreme Eastern Washington should use Idaho Highway 95
south from Coeur d’Alene to Moscow and then to Pullman.
— Cougar football fans from the central part of the state and from Western Washington are
urged to exit I-90 at Vantage and use Highway 26 to Colfax.
As always, drivers should allow extra time for the trip to Pullman on game days because of
increased traffic.
