Dean Candidate Visits Pullman Campus

PULLMAN, Wash. — The search for the next dean of Washington State University’s College
of Veterinary Medicine continues this week with the visit of candidate Alastair J.S. Summerlee,
currently acting associate academic vice president for the University of Guelph at Guelph,
Ontario, Canada.
Summerlee earned his degrees at the University of Bristol, United Kingdom, including his
veterinary degree and a doctorate in the sciences.
He served as veterinary preclinical dean for the University of Bristol and later became
associate dean of the Ontario Veterinary College at Guelph. He has served in several positions
with Lifelearn V, a private company that delivers continuing education to the veterinary
profession. Summerlee also has served as dean of graduate studies and chair of university
enrollment management for UG.
The candidate met with search committee members and university administrators Tuesday
and Wednesday (Aug. 31-Sept.1).
