State of Washington Disability Committee Seeks New Members

PULLMAN, Wash. — The State of Washington Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues
and Employment is recruiting new volunteer members to assist in addressing issues of persons
with disabilities in the state. The committee serves as an advocate for the disability community,
and as a disability advisory group to state government.
One of the committee members is Marshall Mitchell, director of Washington State
University’s Disability Resource Center.
Persons with disabilities, their family members, advocates, professionals working with the
disabled, and those with an active commitment to improving the lives of state residents are
invited to apply for membership. A broad representation of all Washington state citizens is
desired.
The deadline for receipt of membership applications is July 15. Gov. Gary Locke will appoint
new members in January.
