PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University’s Board of Regents will hold its regular
June meeting at the WSU Tree Fruit Research and Extension Center in Wenatchee. The meeting
is scheduled for 10 a.m. June 25 at 1100 N. Western Avenue.
Some of the agenda items to be discussed by the regents include establishing a School of
Biological Sciences in the College of Sciences, extending a bachelor of science degree in
computer engineering to WSU Spokane, and offering a bachelor of science degree in agriculture
through distance learning.
The regents typically hold their June meeting at a WSU branch campus or research station
location. This meeting will include a luncheon presentation from WSU-TFREC staff.
The WSU-TFREC strengthens Washington State’s fruit production, quality and competitive
position through research and technology transfer. Comprehensive research projects are
conducted by WSU and collaborating federal scientists in all phases of orchard culture, pest
control, fruit harvesting and handling, fruit maturity, storage, grading and packaging. These
programs also include basic science aspects of plant physiology, entomology, plant pathology,
soil science, horticulture, economics and biochemistry.
The meeting is open to the public. Agendas and information will be available at the door.
